Helen Bauch is the President of Food Smarts. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada and educated at the University of Manitoba, Helen has been developing new food products for over thirty years, thirteen of them with Food Smarts. On a stroll through any grocery store she can point to products she and her team developed that are generating profits, some of them for more than 20 years. She is responsible for many foodservice innovations and is well known for her expertise in flavor evaluation and creation.

Formerly, she held technical management positions at Van de Kamps - Technical Services Manager, Denny’s Restaurants - Director of Research and Lawry’s Foods - Product Development Manager.

Collaborators:

Shari Lakes Carter of Lakes Carter Associates. Shari is a seasoned food technologist who has been developing products and systems for 20 years with companies such as Lawry’s Foods, Denny’s, Carl’s, El Pollo Loco and Del Taco.

Hal Sieling, Hal Sieling and Associates. Food Smarts provides product development expertise to this consulting group and has collaborated with Hal on an extensive variety of foodservice projects.

Ken Struman, Struman and Associates. A marketing research firm of long standing in California, Food Smarts has looked to Ken Struman for marketing research support and guidance with many clients.

Packaging design and engineering experts are brought together as required.
